THE ONLY VOTES THAT COUNT | 2006-09-14

Back in the days of print media, I wrote an article pointing out that the only votes that are not thrown away are the ones they tell us are "thrown away."

We are told that if you do not vote for a major candidate, your vote is "thrown away" because your candidate will not win.

Meanwhile, back on Planet Earth, your actual chances of deciding which major candidate wins ANY election are less than your chances of getting killed in an accident on the way to the polls.

The only votes that send a message are the ones which are dedicated entirely to sending a message. The Wallace vote of 1968 was infinitely more important than any ballot for Humphrey or Nixon.

In fact, the Wallace vote of 1968 was the major reason why there is no longer a Soviet Empire.
