THE ROBERT W. WHITAKER ARCHIVE

TACTICAL PROBLEM | 2007-06-11

BUGS -- No sooner said than done!

I submit a problem to the Seminar.

I would prefer the whole top line to read:

Bob'sUndergroundSeminar(BUGS)

That would reduce it to the 29 spaces the present top line is limited to. If they're HERE, they'll know it's whitakeronline.org

BUT let's leave the Bob's Blog everywhere else FOR NOW. One advantage I have over The Talent is that I know how confusing the smallest change can be for us civilians in the computer wars.

Damn it, gang! Give me some comments!

This sort of "simple" thing is CRITICAL.

Changed. I think its a good change, the random viewer will know what BUGS means without having to search the archives.

Feedback anyone?

Thanks. I made the first swap laaaate last night knowing we'd get Bob's Tactical Clarity next. No sense trading emails and waiting. Sometimes it's better, he covered most of what I'd thought of, but would not have guessed precisely what he DID!

People who are hung up on acronym spelling will want the "G" capitalized, but people who are just thinking and acting won't care a bit.

We can make clarity changes to the TOP line and then change the Bottom subtitle to something better... ??? I'd go for that myself. Bob, Dave, Mark, et. al. what's a good two-line "I understand it all perfectly" description??

How about:

Top line: "Bob's Underground Seminar"

2nd line: "BUGS: Saying What Respectable Conservatives Won't"

I'm not sure what the effect of the squished title would have in web searches.

Al, could we push the "Search" over and put in the breaks?

#5 Sys Op | 2007-06-11 12:07

The "Search" is a part of the theme layout. We can do anything they want including changing the width of the Header and moving Search to the top of the right-hand column. It used to be a widget, but that wasn't necessary with this Theme layout. It's all on the Main Page template.

Try it on the test blog. I'm about to walk out the door, or I'll be late for a very important date.

How about (to get keywords into the search engine):

Bob's Underground Seminar
BUGS: Ending White Genocide - Respectable Conservatives Won't

Here is my idea, but I also like Sys Ops's idea too.

Look forward to seeing the end result:

Bobs Underground Seminar

BUGS - Fighting Racist Genocide.

It looks to me you have plenty of room between the title and search box. Then again, I am using a wide screen.

I don't know how wordpress template is organized but it would probably involve changing dimensions in the table structure, but you risk "breaking" the page layout. You can experiment with different numbers and revert the change if something unexpected happens. I gather Sys Op knows what is to be done.
