JOE ADMITS DEFEAT | 2006-01-09
Joe tells me I won.
Joe admits defeat.
He then goes on to specify what his defeat means.
I have read it over several times.
Maybe I don't understand the underlying message, but what joe says strike me as less than an apology to the whole world.
If it is an apology to the world it is a very subtle one and subtlety is not my specialty.
Anyway, here is joe rorke's admission of total defeat:
"All right, you win, I'll comment. It is important to have the courage of one's convictions. I almost never apologize for anything I say and, as you know, I don't ask anyone to apologize to me. All this talk about apologies is so much nonsense anyway. I saw a program on television last night where a woman who perjured herself on the witness stand sent a man away to prison for twenty years. She lied at trial. She knew she was lying. She apologized after the man had spent eighteen years in the can. Apologized. "I'm sorry." Nonsense talk! Can you give the man back his eighteen years? Nothing else counts. Stand on what you know is right. But you've got to KNOW it's right. I have run into so many people that have been brainwashed out of their ability to think that it ought to be a criminal offense to perpetrate such atrocities upon people of our nation. The man asks, "Did I step out of line? Did I say the impermissible? Should I stand in the corner?" Free men ought not to live in that world! Excuse me for living. Excuse me for having a thought that doesn't comport with His Majesties wishes. I will learn to march lockstep with the Master in due time. I'm just a little slow. Or maybe I'm a rebel.....or a revolutionary.....or an insurrectionist. Make your statement and stand by it or make no statement at all."
